food friday~ Stripy cream filled meringues

hey guys!


its friday so guess what that means?....
im gonna teach you how to make something... that something is stripy cream filled meringues.
yeah you probably guessed from the title. i thought i should start with an easy recipe.

These stripy cream filled meringues are great for a get-together with friends and they are easy to keep fresh so you can make them days beforehand and avoid any last minute kitchen disasters on the day of your coffee morning.



im not sure if you have these in america but if 
you dont know what a meringue is im gonna tell you...
basically they are a sweet food made from a mixture 
of egg whites and sugar baked until crisp. simple as that.

• PREP:20 MINS
• BAKE:1 HOUR 30 MINS
• SERVES:20
• SKILL LEVEL:EASY

Ingredients

• 3Egg white(s) (free range) large
• 175gUnrefined golden caster sugar (we use Billington's)Unrefined golden caster sugar
• Pink food colouring
• 300mlDouble cream lightly whipped

 

HOW TO MAKE THEM!!

STEP 1

pre-heat oven to 120degrees Celsius (gas mark 1). line two baking trays with baking paper

STEP 2

wish egg whites until stiff then, add the sugar a spoonful at the time, until the mixture is glossy.

STEP 3

use a small paintbrush to paint three vertical stripes of food colouring inside a large piping bag fitted with a 1cm round tip. next, fill the bag up with meringue mix, and pipe 5cm circular shapes onto the baking sheets. make sure you use less pressure to swirl the tip of in a circular motion.

STEP 4

bake in the oven about 1 - 1 and a half hours, or until they are a light creamy colour and can be easily removed from the baking paper. turn the oven off and leave them to cool with the door slightly ajar, preferably over night.

STEP 5

serve with the meringues sandwiched with light whipped cream or, on their own with raspberry coulis

"I remember that too," she replies softly. He wipes another tear from his cheek and says, "I would have gotten out today!"

grace's tuesday~ tips for surviving school/college

its tuesday so im going to be posting tips for surviving school/ college what i got from grace's guide 

( grace helnig's book).

1. dont go after the hottest person.
    theyre probably overcompensating for something terrible hidden underneath all that pretty hair.

2. get at least 80% of your homework done the night before.
    college life is almost entirely about 80% prep work and 20% spontaneous problem- solving/improvising

3. lump yourself with like minded people.
    in an academic environment its easier to be succesful if youre surrounded and inspired by people who 'get you and vice versa.

4. try to get your housing figured our early
    this can be one of the most stressful parts about college. figure out who you want to live with next year and where. so youre not an anxious puddle of tears in a windowless room with the girl who sleep-screams.

5. you dont really need to know math
    unless youre majoring in it or are a professional human calculator.

6. dont make fun of nerd's
just dont. eventually theyre going to dominate you and get the last laugh

7. dont be the teacher's pet

8. experiment sexually
    only if you're in college. get it out of your system now.

9. keep all of your important things in one bag
    this is overall life advice. leaving something important in a class room is annoying. you finished your walk of shame, dont make yourself have to go back. keep it together.

10. be social
      push yourself's to mingle with other social group's. this allows "friendship's" to happen.         whoa! neat!

11. you can get so many tampons and condoms from your health centre
      take advantage

12. if you hate it, it wont last forever.

cleansing, toning and exfoliating

cleansing
cleansing is probably one of the most important,
 easiest and least expensive element when it comes to maintaining healthy skin. cleansers remove bacteria, make up, dirt and any oil that builds up on your skin during the day and will also help prepare your skin for any moisturiser or serums that can be easily absorbed. there are loads of different types of cleansers to chose from and some contain more soap than others.
its best to use a gentle cleansing balm that doesn't strip your skin of moisture and leaves it moisturised afterwards.

apply your cleanser all over your face and use circular motions on the areas of congestion.- the chin, nose and forehead- because this drains toxins. if your using a balm or cream cleanser dont allow it to sink into the skin because it needs to remain on the surface to draw out impurities. lots of people use an eye makeup remover, it is always important to be gentle around your eyes and not to tug at the skin, because this area of your face is sensitive and prone to damage.its really important to spend time while cleansing to remove all the residue of makeup.

Finally, i should say never go to bed without taking of your makeup. believe me, i often feel like i cant be bothered, especially when i have had a long day! the thought of having to wet my face right before bed can be such a pain. so here's a tip, as soon as you know you have nothing else to do for the rest of the day, even as early as 6pm., take off your makeup even if you're not going to bed until 10pm. then you're like yes its off! and you don't have to worry about taking it off before bedtime.




toning
toner works by attracting moisture from the air
 and trapping
it in the top layers of the skin. it makes a real difference to
 your skin, keep toner for when your skin feels congested.
aside from toner, its also good to use cleansing water's
 straight after cleanser because they remove any last traces
 of make up and hydrate your skin.










exfoliating
Exfoliators stimulate circulation in the skin and remove

the dead skin cells, dirt and oil that get clogged deep in
your pores. some are harsher than other's and if you
have very oily skin, it can be tempting to vigorously
exfoliate. but this can make the problem worse. all
 skin types can benefit from finger grains, more
 natural ingredients and spherical beads rather than
 jagged grains. exfoliation masks are a great
 alternative- lush do some amazing one's (uk)
